Announcements for the week of March 19th



Wednesdays in Lent:  The class is studying Life of the Beloved by Henri Nouwen.  The class meets at 6:00 p.m. in the yellow room.  Please read pages 85-126 for this week.

Join us on the Sundays in Lent, at 9:10 a.m., as the Adult Formation examines the Sermons of Martin Luther King Jr. from Strength to Love or at  Today’s is “On Being a Good Neighbor.”  The coming sermons are:  March 26, “Antidotes for Fear,” and April 2, “Beyond Vietnam:  A Time to Break the Silence,” Feel free to read it beforehand or come hear it as we read it together.



Fridays in Lent:  8:30 a.m., Contemplative Prayer; 9:00 a.m., Stations of the Cross.  Come for one or both.  Contemplative Prayer is also offered at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Resurrection will be hosting two Safe Church Trainings Saturday March 25th.  The first is Safeguarding God’s Children and goes from 8:30-12:00.  The second training is the Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Harassment which will go from 1:00-5:00.  All members of the clergy whether stipendiary or non-stipendiary, all interns and persons in the ordination process, all paid employees, all wardens and vestry members, all volunteers (age 16 and over) who work with children and youth must have attended these two trainings in the last 10 years.  If you are unsure if you have, check with Fr. Brent.

Lenten Organ Recitals continue this Saturday at Resurrection at 4:00 p.m.  This week’s organist is Sarah Massie, a student of Julia Brown’s.


Coming on Palm Sunday:  Easter Week in Naples, a concert by the Oregon Bach Collegium, Sunday, April 9, 3:00 p.m., at Resurrection.  Based on recent research and interest in the remarkable history of music performance in the confraternities and churches of eighteenth-century Naples, this program will include a variety of offerings associated with Easter Week observances. Directed by Marc Vanscheeuwijck, the program includes Pergolesi’s setting of the Stabat mater sequence, composed for the Contrafernità dei Cavalieri di San Luigi di Palazzo. The OBC period-instrument string ensemble and vocal soloists will also be featured in a cello concerto by Fiorenze, Caresana’s “Tarantella,” and the cantata “Squarciato appena havea” by Provenzale.  Tickets available online ( or at the door: $15 general-$12 seniors, $5 student.
