Announcements & Prayers

Announcements for the week of April 15th

CHRISTIAN FORMATION

Adult Formation class continues on Wed., April 18, at 6:00 p.m.  The class, animate: FAITH, is a 7-week video/discussion series presented by seven leading Christian voices (Nadia Bolz-Weber, Brian McLaren, Shane Phipps, Lillian Daniel, and others), discussing seven “big conversations” about our Christian faith. The topics of the sessions are God, Religion, Jesus, Salvation, Cross, Bible, and Church.  The April 18 class, “Religion: Spirituality is not Enough,” with Lillian Daniel, poses the idea of being part of a spiritual tradition and how experiences within those traditions affect us.  The class will be facilitated by Neal Mandich.

CONGREGATIONAL EVENTS

The Annual Ministry Faire is April 22.  Join us following the 10:30 service, in the parish hall, to discover the depth and breadth of our vibrant church and its many ministries (internal and external).  Snacks will be served, balloons will abound, and questions will be answered.

Mark your calendars!  The Founders Event, honoring those who have been at Resurrection for more than 50 years, is scheduled for Pentecost Sunday, May 20.  Details to follow.

Volunteers needed to help in the children’s classrooms:  please sign up with Aria Seligmann during Coffee Hour.

Playground Committee:  If you are interested in being a part of the planning and designing of our new playground, or just learning more, please contact Windy Dayton.

Room to rent:  A member of Resurrection has a room to rent to a quiet, non-smoking woman.  Call the church office if you are interested.

Grant Writers and Reviewers Needed!  The Home Starter Kit ministry solicits your help and expertise if you have skills in writing and/or reviewing grant applications to write and submit several applications during the year (depending on the grantors’ deadlines.)  We want to apply to some corporate entities and foundations.  Call or email Gerald Clark or Stevie Piccolo.  Thank You!

Join the Lunch Bunch, an “equal opportunity unisex group,” at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at local restaurants for lunch and fellowship at the following locations:
April 17, Sixth St. Grill, 55 W. 6th Ave.
April 24, McGrath’s Fish House, 1036 Valley River Way
May 1, Pump Café, 710 Main St., Springfield

Mark Hubbell is available to work, inside and outside jobs.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

The 13th Annual Disorient Asian American Film Festival of Oregon will run April 17-22, at the Bijou Art Cinema, Broadway Metro, and the EMU Redwood Auditorium.  Every film features people of color and 18 of the films have been written or directed by women.  This curated film program brings the diversity of underrepresented voices and stories to Eugene.  An Opening Night Gala will be held at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on Thursday, April 19, 9:30 p.m.  Tickets for Opening Night, VIP passes ($65) and all film programs may be purchased on-line at www.disorientfilm.org.  More information and full schedule are available at the website.
