On the Sundays in Lent, beginning March 5, 9:10 a.m., Adult Formation will look at the Sermons of Martin Luther King Jr.  We will read a sermon from Strength to Love aloud each week and have a conversation.

CONGREGATIONAL EVENTS:

Fr. Brent will be gone this next week at a radical discipleship conference in Ventura City, CA.  The conference is on the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King’s sermon “Beyond Vietnam:  A Time to Break the Silence.”

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper:  Everyone is invited to our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday evening, February 28th. Pancakes will be served continuously from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. so come anytime.  The cost will be by donation, with a suggested minimum of $5 per person or $15 per family.  The menu will include pancakes, blueberry and strawberry toppings, maple syrup and turkey and veggie sausages.  Gluten-free pancakes will be available.  We will serve decaf coffee or tea, orange juice and milk.  Please sign up to help, only a one hour commitment.  Volunteer sign-up sheets will be in the hallway.  We will be resplendent in masks and beads, of course.  You may make or bring your own masks.  There will be art supplies and patterns at the supper for you to use to create your own most marvelous masks.

A Children’s Library is coming!  We are adding a children and family section to our library in the yellow room.   If you have any children’s books or Bibles you would like to donate you can give them to Tina or leave them in front of the nursery with a note.

Join the Lunch Bunch, an “equal opportunity unisex group,” on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. at the following locations:
Feb. 21, Pump Café, 710 Main St., Springfield
Feb. 28, Ciao Pizza, 3342 Gateway St., Springfield
March 7, The Kozy, 1600 Coburg Rd.

Sunday Coffee Time:  We would appreciate your help on Sundays in making sure your coffee cups get washed.  Any used coffee cups that are neatly stacked in the upstairs office sink will not automatically be washed.  If you miss the last flight to the dishwasher after Sunday hospitality hour, then please wash and dry your cup and place it with the other clean ones on the coffee cart.  That is what Jesus would do.  Thank you.  Debbie Cullen

Forward Day by Day:  The February-March-April edition of this devotional booklet is now available in the back of the nave.  A $1.00 donation is requested.

Mark Hubbell is available to work, inside as well as outside jobs.  Please call the church office or contact him in person if you have a job for him.
