Announcements & Prayers

Announcements for the week of October 15th

CHRISTIAN FORMATION:

Adult Formation continues on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.  The class meets in the yellow room examining the topic of “Goldilocks and God.”  The class is now looking at biology and evolution, with the question “how does Darwinism comport with Christianity?”  As time permits, we will discuss evolutionary psychology, human consciousness, value and morality, and our creation in the “image of God.”

CONGREGATIONAL EVENTS:

Shelterweek is happening!  We will be hosting the interfaith shelter for two weeks starting on Monday October 16.  Resurrection will staff the first week and our neighbors at Unity will staff the following week.  Please check the sign up sheets in the hall to see if there are openings you could fill!  Our guests are under an enormous amount of strain, so providing them respite is a gift we freely give.  Our church is known as one of the most welcoming, home-like sites for families.  We try our best to offer warm hospitality through homemade food, lots of support for the children and authentic connection with the parents.  Thank you!  Your Shelterweek Team:  Nick Crump, Windy Dayton, Tina Heidrick, Doug Bonham, Jerry Jacobson, and Chet Kasmarski

The Children’s Program is looking for volunteers.  Can you give just 45 minutes of your year to help support Resurrection’s fastest growing ministry?  We have many of the 75 spots left to fill for the entire year, and if everyone signed up for just one, we wouldn’t have to mention this again until next September.  If you are interested you can talk to Tina Heidrick, Hilary Everett, Aria Seligmann, Stevie Piccolo, Windy Dayton, or Fr. Brent.  You can also email Tina at: nursery@resurrectioneugene.org.

Sermon Talk Back:  Beginning today, the Adult Formation Team is offering a time after the 10:30 service to discuss the sermon.  Grab a cookie and a drink and come to the parish hall to reflect on and discuss the day’s sermon.

Annie Heckel is managing Resurrection’s Facebook page. I f you have any announcements or events that you would like posted to the page, pictures of church events that you would like to share, etc., please e-mail Annie the relevant materials/information at n.m.heckel@gmail.com.
