Announcements & Prayers

Announcements for the week of December 9th

Adult Education in Advent, “The Body in Prayer:” We experience God, Christ, worship, and fellowship through our bodies; yet we rarely give attention to the use of movement, senses, posture, and touch in prayer. During Advent, try subtle new ways to sit, stand, move and breathe during prayer; try using breath, touch and motion in prayer and worship.  Series co-leaders Sandra Wu (Tai-chi instructor), Alex Poling (massage therapist) and Karen Fabiano (ki-aikido instructor), with Fr. Brent introducing and concluding the series.  Nov. 28; Dec 5, 12, and 19.

Caroling with the Choristers:  Join the Choristers after the 10:30 service on Sunday, December 16, to go caroling.  In the past we have caroled at Good Samaritan Care Center and the homes of members who cannot get to church. Volunteers are needed to help in the children’s and youths’ program and in the Sunday School classes.  To sign up or for more information please talk to Jenny Reesor during coffee hour or email Tina at

December Home Starter Kit Update:  We have been busy filling kits!  The total since our last report was 30 kits, and we have helped 42 adults and 38 children.  We are happy to report that we have received a $1000.00 grant from the Downtown Lions Club; this is the second such grant we have received from them!  We thank all of you for your prayers and contributions, and we thank your faithful volunteers.  Please join us in the Parish Hall on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. to pack kits!

The Commonweal/America the Beautiful discussion group focuses on contemporary social/political issues and meets on the second Sunday of each month.  The next discussion is Sunday, December 9, at 4:00 p.m. in the Yellow Room and centers on the ideal immigration policy for the United States.  Typically there are some short readings and some questions to think about circulated before the meeting.  If you would like to join, email Ed Lawry at for the materials.

Join the Lunch Bunch, an “equal opportunity unisex group,” at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at local restaurants for lunch and fellowship
at the following locations:
December 11, East 19th Café, 1485 E. 19th
December 18, Agate Alley Bistro, 1461 E. 19th Ave.

Mark Hubbell is available to work, inside and outside jobs.  Call him or the church office.

God’s blessings on our Vestry.

God’s blessings on the Survivors Justice Center.

We pray, O God, for the fellowship of the Spirit, who unites us in the bond of peace as members of the one Body.  Deepen our communion one with another in Christ, and grant that through your Spirit continually working in us we may daily increase in the knowledge of your love, and learn to love our brothers and sisters with the love you have shown to us in Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

God’s blessings on the Diocese of the Falkland Islands, Extra provincial to the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Right Rev. Timothy Thornton, Bishop
