Being Episcopalian

ATTENTION ALL WOULD-BE EPISCOPALIANS (and current Episcopalians too)
On Sunday, December 14, Bishop Akiyama will be with us for her regular visitation. This is an opportunity for anyone who would like to be Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church (or even to be Baptized!) to do so.

Beginning on Sunday, November 16 and continuing through December 7 our 9:15 formation time will be a review of who we are as the Episcopal Church. We will be basing our discussion on John Westerhoff’s book “A People Called Episcopalians” Through the weeks of the class, we will be discussing Anglican authority, Anglican Spirituality, Anglican temperament, and Anglican polity. Because we have a deadline, depending on how our conversations go, we may also add online meetings during the week.

This class is required for any who would like to be received or confirmed and is a great review even for long-standing members.

IMPORTANT: If you think you would like to be received or confirmed, I must know by Friday November 14 so that I can submit all names to the Bishop. It is easier to sign up and then not be received than to add your name too late.

ATTENTION ALTAR GUILD, USHERS, LECTORS, AND EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

This Sunday’s 9:15 formation will be a training for all Sunday morning ministries including Altar guild, Ushers, Lectors, and Eucharistic ministers. It will be an opportunity for us all to look closely at how our roles fit together to create a beautiful liturgy. More importantly, it will be an opportunity for us to ask questions of one another. Asking, “Why do we do it this way?” Is the first step in making things better?

If you share in any of these ministries, are thinking about joining one, or are just curious about how things work on Sundays please gather in the north pews of the church. Our time will be short, so we will start promptly at 9:15.
