Community

It is always good to remember that our congregation is not alone, but is surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, many of whom are our friends and neighbors. In the coming weeks we’ll have several opportunities to connect with other Episcopalians in our community and Diocese:

  • This Sunday, May 3, we will not have services at Resurrection because of the construction on Hilyard. Instead, the Vestry and I are asking everyone to attend one of the other Episcopal churches in the area and meet some of your neighbors. Take note of what is the same, or different, comfortable or strange, and bring your thoughts back the following Sunday, May 10, when we’ll discuss our experiences.
  • On Thursday, May 14, St. Mary’s will be hosting our shared Eugene/Springfield Ascension Day service. We’ll have dinner at 6:00 pm and the service at 7:00. It’s wonderful opportunity to break bread and share worship with our community. Unfortunately, though, instead of a fresh new voice, you’ll have to listen to the same preacher you hear every Sunday.
  • On Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 to 3:00 the Episcopal Church in Western Washington will come together at St. Timothy’s in Salem for our annual Renewal Day. We’ll meet new friends, share Eucharist, learn from a visiting preacher and speaker, enjoy lunch together, and maybe even come home with a creative basket from the annual basket raffle. Unlike Diocesan Convention, Renewal Day is a time for EVERYONE in the Diocese to come together. You can learn more and register here.

I’ll look forward to seeing you out and about, in the Communion of Saints!
