Pride March Canceled
Eugene’s annual Pride March, originally scheduled for this Saturday, has been cancelled. Eugene Pride discusses the reasons here: Why is the Rally & March cancelled this year?
We have participated enthusiastically in the march for several years, and I am sad that we will not be able to show our support for God’s children in the same way this year. I am sadder still to read about the reasons. If you were planning to join the march, please don’t let your love be silenced. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the situation, then reach out and offer your love both as support to the organizers and as truth spoken clearly to the powers that be.
Finally, remember that the Pride Festival at the Event Center is still on! Put on your Resurrection pride and come enjoy the day!
Safe Church Training
A church should be a safe place for all people, and for the protection of its vulnerable members, the Episcopal Church requires that all clergy, lay employees, leaders (Vestry Members) licensed ministers (EM’s), and volunteers who regularly work with vulnerable persons (Stephen Ministers, nursery tenders, Sunday School teachers, etc.) be trained in the prevention of misconduct every three years. This Safe Church training is often completed by individuals online, but sometimes it is easier to do the training in-person with a group. This Sunday at 12:30 pm in the parish hall we will have an in-person training session for anyone who is required to have the training, and for anyone who just wants to learn. You must register for this in-person training TODAY, registration ends tomorrow. You can still take the online training if you prefer it, but even if you take the online option, please complete your training by Sunday June 28. The registration for both online and in-person training is here: Safe Church – Episcopal Church in Western Oregon
Adult Formation
Our three-part discussion of individual decisions in the face of war will conclude this Sunday after the service at 11:00ish. Having discussed what constitutes a just war and our own Anglican and Episcopal positions, this week we’ll talk about how we can live into our individual beliefs.
