March 14, 2024
You’ve heard about it in announcements, the Vestry has discussed it in meetings, it has crept into several sermons, and colored our Epiphany and Lent, and now next Wednesday, March 20, will be our final discussion of the book I hope we have all been reading, “When Church Stops Working.” In the last several weeks we’ve read and discussed the traps of secularity and how the church has fallen into them. We’ve reoriented ourselves with a reminder that Resurrection is not the hero of our own story, but a supporting actor in God’s story. We’ve talked about the importance of waiting for, recognizing, and naming encounters with “the God who is God” instead of chasing secular models of success. On Wednesday we will briefly discuss chapter 8 and then spend some time talking about what Resurrection might look like if we refocus away from decline and instead live into how we as a community encounter God. I hope you will join in the conversation. We’ll gather at 7:00 pm on Zoom.
