Ministry for Education

Beginning this Sunday we will have a new minister among us. Michelle Cornwell will be joining us for the next months as she completes the field education portion of her journey to being ordained as a priest. She will be with us on Sunday mornings and will be participating in and learning about every aspect of practical liturgy, preaching, and Christian formation. During the week she will be learning about administration, leadership, outreach, and pastoral care in the parish, joining us in person when she is able and more often online from Corvallis, where she works as a chaplain.

Typically, a field education placement lasts for two eight-month school years. Michelle, though, is nearly finished with her M.Div. and has extensive training and experience in chaplaincy and her time with us will likely be shorter. While she is with us, though, she will be teaching classes, preaching sermons, participating in Vestry meetings, and immersing herself in the life of the parish. Please come this Sunday to meet her and to help her feel welcome.

Basement flooding

With tremendous thanks to all who helped and especially to our heroic Jr. Warden, Chuck Atwater, I am glad to write that the basement is now dry and the damage done appears minimal. We are working with local insurance adjusters and the Church Insurance Co. to determine what our coverage might be and will proceed when we have the full picture. The ground water level appears still to be close below the floor, so please keep up your prayer during the rains in the days ahead. Thank you again to everybody who worked hard to dry our space so quickly!
