This Sunday we’ll be setting our clocks forward an hour. (Don’t forget, or you’ll get to church just in time for coffee hour!) Whatever your thoughts on Daylight Savings time or time changes in general, I always regard “Springing forward” as a sign that winter is coming to an end. We’re starting gardens and spring cleaning, and soon we’ll be putting away our winter wardrobes in favor of less insulated clothes.
As you go through your closet, each time you get ready to store a coat, sweater, or pair of woolly socks, ask yourself if you used it at all this winter. If you didn’t, instead of storing it for another year, please consider donating it to Community Supported Shelters, or another organization that provides shelter. There will still be some cold days in the weeks ahead, and in a few months winter will be here again and your warmth will be needed.
The Contemplative Eucharist is coming to an end
Last week the folks who organize the Contemplative Eucharist that we have shared with St. Mary’s for the last few years came to the clergy and told us they were ready for the service to end. Few people have been attending, and the organizers are getting tired and are ready to move on. After discussing the possibilities, we all concluded that it is time to let the service go, and so the final Contemplative Eucharist will be at Resurrection on Saturday May 23. We will let the space it has filled lie fallow, at least for the summer, and the wait and see what the Holy Spirit raises up to fill it.
