Instructed Eucharist
This Sunday, September 27, our service will be an instructed Eucharist. Instead of a sermon we will be taking time during the liturgy to explore how we worship. There are several in the congregation who are new to Episcopal worship and even to the church, so we’ll cover some of the basics and, I hope, some new material even for those who have been around the church for a while. 

A few of the questions I’ve received are somewhat tangential to Sunday worship, so I’ll take a few minutes after the service during coffee hour to address them and any other questions that arise.

Normal service schedule will resume on Rally Day – October 4
That morning service times will be 8:00 am (Archaic language without music) and 10:30 am (Expansive language with music and choir). 

The Vestry and I are continuing review your input from the service time and style survey to ensure that our worship pattern going forward is designed to meet both the preferences of our current congregation and those of others whom we hope to attract and serve.

St. Francis (and Rally Day) Blessing of the Animals
Next Sunday, October 4, is the Feast of St. Francis, an icon of what it means to be one with the poor and with all God’s creatures. Both services will include a blessing of animals, and we invite you to bring your critters with you to church. Well-behaved members of any species are welcome! (But please come prepared to clean up after your companion.) If your furry, feathered, or scaly friend is not well behaved or not up to a visit to church, bring a picture and we’ll offer a blessing from a distance.

Rally Day and Potluck

The first Sunday in October, Rally Day, marks the beginning of the program year at Resurrection. We’ll return to the regular service schedule, the choir will be back with us (Choir practice resumes this evening (Sept. 24) at 7 pm for all who are interested.), we’ll highlight ministries around the church and help to connect you with those who lead them, and we’ll start our fall Christian Formation classes. We’ll also celebrate a new start with a potluck lunch following the 10:30 service. The hospitality team has a sign-up clipboard, but even if you don’t find it, bring a dish or just yourself and join in the life of Resurrection!
