Walking together
This Lent we’ve been living into the theme of walking together. Last Sunday we walked our labyrinth together on the paths of purgation, illumination, and reunion. This Sunday, March 22, we will walk together in another symbolic pilgrimage – The Way of the Cross, walking with Jesus through the streets of Jerusalem from Gabbatha to Golgotha and the tomb.
Walking as prayer is a good thing. Walking as pilgrims to sites that carry moments and memories is a wonderful practice. But walking is also supposed to get you to a destination. Next Sunday, March 29 (Palm Sunday), we will walk together with Christians from around Eugene and Springfield not in prayer, nor in memory, but for a purpose. The details are below. I hope you will bring your palms and join us as we walk to reclaim the voice and image of what it means to walk in the Way of Christ.
Palm Sunday Action
Reclaiming Christianity in the Public Square
Stranding up & Speaking against White Christian Nationalism
On Palm Sunday, Christians remember that Jesus did not enter the city as a ruler or conqueror. He came riding a donkey, a symbol of humility and peace. To counter the message of Christian Nationalism, this is the message we would like to demonstrate publicly this year!
